US Forces Struck a 'Major Facility' in Venezuela, Trump Claimed Without Providing Details.

Ex-President Donald Trump has stated that American forces hit a "major facility" in Venezuela recently. But, the former president offered no details on the exact nature or site of the strike, and there has been no further comment from his team.

Vague Comments Offered In a Radio Interview

"US forces just knocked out – I don't know if you saw – they have a big plant, where the vessels depart from. Two nights ago, we took it out. So we targeted them decisively," Trump allegedly told GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Implications of a Confirmed Strike

If a American military action is verified, it would mark the initial ground target hit since the US Department of Defense began a buildup of American military presence in the region to disrupt narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration claims operate under the direction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This stated objective of the military buildup has evolved into a blockade aimed at stopping the nation's oil exports.

Online Video and Official Claims

Trump has for weeks stated that American military units are prepared to escalate the operations by attacking targets inside Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require congressional approval.

Video footage circulated online on 24 December seemed to depict an detonation said to be from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. But, the video or the site in question has not been independently verified.

An administration official allegedly informed a news network that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Reaction and Current Military Situation

The Maduro government has not commented on the alleged strike Trump referenced. Additionally, there have been no independent reports from Venezuela concerning it.

The deployment of US military in the region – a stance some have termed a naval quarantine – represents the largest maritime enforcement action of the Trump era.

Officials have avoided from describing the action as a blockade, but have confirmed that approximately 15,000 service members are positioned across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to implement current sanctions.
